A Portrait of Justice....?

I've been spending quite a bit of time on another cell-shading project lately, so I wanted to take a break and do a simple coloured pencil drawing.

So this is Light Yagami from Death Note, the mass murderer / extreme vigilante known to the world as '' Kira ''. He's in the suit he wears in the final volume of the manga.

I simply felt like randomly drawing something, so it's just a simple head and shoulders portrait - I didn't particularly plan out the drawing in any way. Unfortunately I didn't have any good pencil colours for the skin-tone so I had to colour his skin digitally.

The background I made up as I went along. I decided I wanted a rectangle of colour behind him so that he was grounded to something and not just floating in the middle of the page. Then I thought it looked a bit flat so I added the Fibers filter and went on to play around with the Wet Media brushes. I used the Eyedropper tool to select a shade of light brown from his hair to use as the over-all background colour and tie it all together.
